Kick Your New Year into High Gear with Wintersession 2008 at Long Island University at Riverhead

Earn three credits in just five Saturday sessions

Riverhead, N.Y. - Make this winter break count by getting a head start on your degree or teacher certification in Teaching Students with Disabilities or Childhood Education with classes at Long Island University at Riverhead.

Wintersession 2008 is a short, intensive period of study where you can earn three credits toward a Master's degree in Teaching Students with Disabilities or begin your studies for a Master of Science degree in Childhood Education in just five Saturday sessions. Begin your program with a required course - "Introduction to Special Education" (for new students) or "Teaching Students with Emotional/Behavioral Programs" - (for students with experience in special education). Classes begin January 5, 2008 and run through February 2, 2008. Registration is ongoing.

Located on the Eastern Campus of Suffolk County Community College, just 10 minutes from Sunrise Highway or exit 70 off the Long Island Expressway, Long Island University at Riverhead offers ample parking and access to the SCCC library, bookstore and cafeteria.

The University offers accredited courses in childhood education, teaching students with disabilities, and literacy education that are ideal for working teachers seeking new specializations as well as for recent graduates or career changers entering the field. The professionals at Long Island University at Riverhead are experts in helping students through the New York State teacher certification process.

Classes in the Master of Science and Advanced Certificate in Homeland Security Management begin on January 22, 2008. They are the first programs of their kind registered with the New York State Education Department and among the first in the country. These fully online programs are taught by some of the nation's top security and law enforcement officials and are designed for public safety and private security professionals, as well as public officials and people with undergraduate degrees who are interested in homeland security careers.
