(516) 283-4081 (fax)
The Southampton Graduate Campus Institute for Regional Research (SCIRR) has been awarded a $5,000 grant by Roper Starch Worldwide, Inc., it was announced today by Timothy Bishop, the College's Provost.
"We are gratified and honored that a research organization with a worldwide reputation has recognized the Institute and its work," said Bishop. "This generous grant will enable SCIRR to upgrade its capabilities with state-of-the-art programs and offer our students a more comprehensive experience in today's marketing and opinion research techniques."
William J. Wilson, president and CEO of Roper Starch Worldwide, said, "As industry leaders, we are aware that there are all too few training grounds for those whom we expect to take charge down the road. We have been impressed by the quality of SCIRR's work and most especially by the fact that it has been conducted on a limited budget using undergraduates for the interviewing process. This grant is not only deserved recognition of the Institute's fine work, it's an investment in the future of our industry."
The Southampton Graduate Campus Institute for Regional Research was established as a not-for-profit information source in October 1993. Since then, it has conducted a spectrum of marketing and opinion studies for government bodies, institutions and businesses throughout Long Island's East End.
