The answer to the above question is Real Estate Agent – at least that’s the answer if the record enrollments received for the Real Estate Licensing courses being offered by Southampton College’s School of Continuing Education are any indication.

Enrollment numbers for the latest course being held this coming weekend (February 5-6) are triple what they have been in the past and the number of inquiries has meant the School will be adding several more real estate courses over the next few months.

School Director Laura Lyons said 70 people have enrolled for this weekend’s course with courses in the past attracting about 20 people.

“We have had to move the course out of our usual class room to the Duke Lecture hall to accommodate the numbers,” she said.

The majority of people taking the course live east of Hampton Bays and come from various backgrounds ranging from prominent city officials to young mothers hoping to re-enter the work force.

New York State has stringent attendance requirements for the successful completion of the salesperson and broker’s licensing courses. To earn a statement of satisfactory completion students must complete the 45 hour New York Real Estate Salesperson’s Course before applying for the New York States License. They must also be sponsored by a licensed broker and pass the State exam set by the New York State Division of Licensing.
