Southampton, NY —Southampton College’s Duke Lecture Hall will be transformed into the dense canopy of a tropical rainforest during a talk by Dr. Scott Mori.

Dr. Scott Mori, Senior Scientist and Director of the Institute of Systematic Botany for the New York Botanical Garden, is an expert in the taxonomy and ecology of Central and South American tropical rain forest trees.

"I’m dedicated to the conservation of tropical forests, especially through teaching others about the complexity and fragility of tropical ecosystems." Mori said of his work.

In addition to his scientific research, Mori also paints highly detailed, spectacular scenes of the intensity of life among the trees.

The lecture is scheduled for April 18 at 4 p.m. and is open to the public.

This lecture is supported by a grant from Long Island University’s John P. McGrath fund, and sponsored by the Environmental Science and Environmental Studies programs and the Honors Program. For additional information, contact Professor Art Goldberg at (631) 287- 8404.
