Mike Taibbi to Give Lecture on Iraq, Afghanistan Experiences

Southampton, NY – Mike Taibbi, senior correspondent for NBC News, will take time out from his global travels to give a lecture titled “The Role of Warzone Reporting in the Changing Information Age” on November 22 at 8pm in Duke Lecture Hall.  

Taibbi is an NBC News correspondent based in New York.  He began reporting for Dateline NBC in August of 1997, and following the tragedy of 9/11 moved to the network’s daily broadcasts -- Nightly News with Tom Brokaw and the Today Show -- as his primary assignments.  His recent reporting experience includes an 11-week tour in Pakistan/Afghanistan during the war on terrorism and two recent return trips to the region.  He also spent three months in Jordan and Iraq covering the 2003 Iraq War, followed by two more trips to Iraq including a month-long rotation that ended in late June 2004.  Taibbi has won numerous awards including more than 30 local Emmy Awards and one national Emmy Award.  He has also won five Edward R. Murrow Awards, an Atlantic Film Festival Gold Medal and dozens of other national awards for broadcast and print journalism.
