Southampton College To Host NCAA First Round
Lady Colonials Receive Number One Seeding

Andreas Nilsson (

Southampton, NY – Southampton College’s Lady Colonials soccer team will host the first round of the NCAA regionals this Friday and Sunday.

The Lady Colonials received the call from the NCAA late yesterday afternoon to say they had qualified to play and that they had been seeded number one in the region, despite an over time  loss to Adelphi in the NYCAC finals on Sunday. The invitation and number one seeding came as a result of their 16-0-2 regular season record.

The side will play fourth seeded West Chester University of Pennsylvania on Friday morning while second seed Adelphi takes on Indiana University of Pennsylvania later that afternoon. The winners of Friday’s game will clash on Sunday to decide who goes onto the next round to be played on November 20. If Southampton is the victor, they will once again play hosts.

No other Southampton College women’s soccer team has made it to the NCAA tournament and this will also be the last time one does. Next year all undergraduate programs at Southampton College will be transferred to sister college C.W. Post.
