Southampton, NY – The Shinnecock Hills Golf course recently taught the world’s best golfers a lesson or two when it hosted the 2004 US Open and this week it will be hosting an event which will help some of the country’s top students reach their full academic potential.

The 2004 Long Island University Golf Outing, sponsored by ASM Mechanical Systems, will take place at the course on Thursday, October 14, 2004, with the proceeds benefiting student scholarship funds across the University’s six campuses.

Foursomes will tee off at noon, enjoying a round of golf on the world championship-caliber links. After playing 18 holes on the course that hosted the U.S. Open this year, participants will enjoy cocktails and a buffet dinner as 19 prizes are awarded to the best golfers of the day. In addition, any golfer skilled enough to score a hole in one will win a two-year car lease generously donated by Lexus of Smithtown.

The event’s title sponsor, ASM Mechanical Systems, is a full-service mechanical contractor. With over 275 highly skilled employees, including estimators, project managers, CAD draftsmen, mechanical coordinators and sheet metal and steam fitting foremen and mechanics, the company has been completing projects on schedule and within budget since 1977.

Other event sponsors are Tilles Investment Co., Lexus of Smithtown, Astoria Federal Savings and Loan, Custom Computer Specialists, Sterling & Sterling, Inc. Sullivan & Nickel Construction Co., Inc. and Zwicker Electric Company.
