Southampton, NY – The man leading Massachusetts’ charge into making the State a provider of clean and efficient energy will be providing insights into how this goal can be achieved during a lecture to be given at Southampton College on October 28th.
Dr. Karl Weiss, Board Chairman of the Massachusetts Technical Collaborative (MTC), has been overseeing a revolution in renewable energy research in that State. The agency is involved in multiple projects, from transforming buildings into efficient, environmentally sound structures, to using the wind and sun as sources of energy.
His lecture entitled “Harnessing the Power of Renewable Energy” is part of the McGrath lecture series at Southampton College and will take place on October 28 at 8 p.m. in Duke Lecture Hall.
“People are making the connection that clean energy technologies are no longer the promise of tomorrow but the reality of today,” Said Weiss. “Renewable energy offers an important link to new economic and environmental opportunity.”
Currently Professor Emeritus, Weiss has been associated with Northeastern University for almost forty years. Born in Hamburg, Germany, he holds a B.S. degree from Columbia University and a Ph.D. from New York University.
His lecture is supported by a grant from Long Island University’s John P. McGrath fund, and sponsored by the Environmental Science and Environmental Studies programs and the Honors Program.
