Senior point guard Dani Thomas surpassed an all-time single-season scoring record at Southampton College last night - and, with five regular-season and at least one if not several playoff games to go, Thomas should obliterate that mark when all is said and done.

Thomas scored her 495th point last night in a losing effort to Dowling College. With a game-high 33 points, she eclipsed the mark of 474 set in 1994-95 by Meegan McGuire. Thomas is also on pace to break seven of Southampton College's 10 individual offensive records. Her 22 points per game leads the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference, and she should end up with over 1000 points in her two-year Southampton College career. She transferred to Southampton College last year from Frederick Community College in Maryland, where she was named to the junior college All American team, also scoring 1000 points. She has done all this despite being small in stature, standing only 5-foot-3.

"Dani can break down defense off the dribble creating scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates," said Colonials head coach Pat McGunnigle, whose team so far is 13-9. "She is exciting to watch on the open court because of her deadly outside shot and accurate passing skills."
