Southampton College of Long Island University presented its 2003 Distinguished Citizen Award to Jean Remmel Little for her volunteer accomplishments for Southampton Hospital at a reception in her honor last Friday at the Meadow Club of Southampton.
Little was praised by Long Island University President David Steinberg, Southampton College's Chancellor Robert F.X. Sillerman, Provost Daniel Rodas and others for being a bright leader and a precious asset to the Hospital and the community.
Little was cited for the many projects she has undertaken in her 18 years at the hospital. As the board of director's chair of development, she has participated in everything from the renovation of the hospital's historical Parrish Memorial Hall to the development of the Committee of 1000 and since 1985 she has coordinated committee members to ensure the success of the Hospital's "Summer Party," an annual event that now raises over $1 million per year for the Department of Emergency Medicine.
As a notable member of local social circles, Little is known to express her support for the Hospital. Administrators at the Hospital say that she personally addresses every concern that is brought to her attention and is publicly committed to the Hospital's mission to provide high quality health care services for the Eastern Long Island community.
