Several new and interesting courses have been added to the summer schedule offered by the Continuing Studies Program at Southampton College of Long Island University. For adults seeking personal enrichment, professional advancement or new careers through non-credit and certificate classes, topics such as "Ethics in Business," "The Art and Sport of Fly Fishing" and "Everything About Sushi" are part of the summer line-up.
Legal, ethical and moral issues facing business owners will be discussed in "Ethics in Business," a two-part lecture series that will discuss how to avoid ethical traps, abide by laws and deal with problem employees. "The Art and Sport of Fly Fishing" will focus on the ultimate melding of art and sport with Captain David Blinken, a certified casting instructor from the Federation of Fly Fishers. Sushi lovers will enjoy "Everything About Sushi" where they will be introduced to the traditional cooking techniques, styles and ingredients of this popular Japanese cuisine. The course's hands-on approach will focus on the Japanese fundamentals of how harmony, balance and aesthetics play a significant role in the preparation, presentation and tastes of sushi.
