Novelist Brooks Hansen, author of "Perlman's Ordeal" and "The Chess Garden," is featured next in the Writers Speak Lecture Series at Southampton College on Wednesday, March 12th at 7:30 p.m. in Duke Lecture Hall.

Hansen's latest book, "The Monsters of St. Helena" (Farrar, Straus & Giroux), portrays Napoleon's exile at the twilight of his career. His style has been described as "measured and calm, similar in their simplicity to those of Borges and even Kafka." He has also written the youth fiction novel "Caesar's Antlers" and co-wrote the book "Boone" with childhood friend and Harvard classmate Nick Davis. He currently resides in New York City.

All talks and readings of the Southampton College Master of Fine Arts Program are free and open to the public. The lectures will take place on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in Duke Lecture Hall. Please call (631) 287- 8432 for more information. The next speaker in the series will be Playwright Joe Pintauro on March 26th.
