Environmental Leadership Award Nominees Sought by Southampton College

The Cooperative Education Department of Southampton College is seeking nominations for the second annual Environmental Leadership Awards. The deadline for nominations is July 15.

Community members are invited to nominate visionaries, practitioners or students for their active roles in benefiting the Long Island environment. Award winners will be selected by an Advisory Board based on their personal contributions and individual achievements in regionally important environmental programs. The Board will select the winners from the fields of research, government, education and industry and this year has added two new categories: student and non-profit. A dinner and reception will be held in October to honor this yearís winners.

Last year, the Cooperative Education Department honored Peter Daum of Brookhaven National Laboratory in the research category, Marty Shea, Chief Environmental Analyst for the Town of Southamptonís Department of Land Management, in the government category, Anita Wright, an educator with the Group for the South Fork, in the education category and Nassau County Legislator Lisanne
