The Homeland Security Management Institute's admissions standards generally reflect those of other Long Island University graduate programs, and require a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with an undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 or better. Eligibility for admission to the program will be evaluated on an individual basis.
The Homeland Security Management Institute's courses are also an option for graduate students at Long Island University who want to explore the Homeland Security field and/or expand their employment opportunities in this growing area. Students enrolled in other Long Island University graduate degree programs who wish to take Homeland Security Management Institute courses for elective credit may register for these courses with the approval of their departments and the Institute's Director, and they need not complete the full application process.
Students pursuing the Certificate on a full-time basis can complete the requirements in a single semester. Part-time students taking only one or two courses per semester can easily complete the Certificate in a timely fashion.
