Students who have previously attended Southampton Graduate Campus and completed
twelve or more credits at another school, must apply for Readmission
through the Admissions Office.
Students in good academic standing
...(overall grade point average at least a 2.0 and a major
grade point average of 2.25) who have officially withdrawn or
have not attended Southampton Graduate Campus for at least one semester
must complete an Application for Reinstatement, available in the
Enrollment Services Office. Students must return the completed
form to Enrollment Services for clearance by the Bursar and the
Associate Dean of Students.
Students not in good academic standing
...(left the College on probation - overall grade point
average is less than a 2.0 and a major grade point average less
than a 2.25) who have officially withdrawn or have not attended
the College for at least one semester must complete an Application
for Reinstatement. Applications for Reinstatement must show solid
evidence of academic success or increased academic potential based
on activities in which the students have engaged since leaving
Southampton (e.g., successful completion of courses at another
institution, or a letter or recommendation from an employer).
Students in this category who wish to resume study must
- Complete the Reinstatement Application and receive clearance
from the Bursar and Associate Dean of Students.
- Provide evidence of likelihood of success.
- Make an appointment with Director of Advising for application
review, registration and advisor assignment.
Students who wish to resume study after academic dismissal
...must petition the Academic Standards Committee for
Reinstatement to the college and file an Application for Reinstatement
(both forms are available in the Enrollment Services Office).
Academically disqualified students who have not petitioned for
immediate reinstatement, or whose petitions for reinstatement
have been denied, may apply at a later date for Reinstatement
to Southampton. These applications will not be considered until
one full semester has elapsed since disqualification. Applications
for Reinstatement must show solid evidence of academic success
or increased academic potential based on activities in which the
students have engaged since disqualification (e.g., successful
completion of courses at another institution). Applications for
Reinstatement of academically disqualified students must have
a positive recommendation from the Academic Standards Committee
and the approval of the Dean for Academic Affairs. Academically
disqualified students may not register for, or take, any courses
at Southampton Graduate Campus or any other campus of Long Island University
during any academic session or during any special session following
disqualification unless reinstated to Southampton. The College
reserves the right not to reinstate students who have been dismissed
for academic reasons.
Students in this category who wish to resume study must:
- Petition Academic Standards for Reinstatement
- Provide evidence of likelihood of success
- Have the approval of the Academic Standards Committee and the
Academic Dean
- Complete the Reinstatement Application with required clearance
(Bursar, Associate Dean of Students, Director of Advising and
Academic Dean)
All students who resume study are subject to College programs and
policies in effect at the time of resumption of study. Policies
are subject to change.
